Rajnath Singh: Operation Sindoor Achieved All Objectives Without War

India’s military exposed Pakistan’s defenses, prioritizes anti-terror fight.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared that Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, achieved all its military objectives without aiming to escalate into a full-scale war with Pakistan. Speaking to soldiers in Bhuj, Gujarat, during a ‘shastra puja’ ceremony on Dussehra, Singh emphasized that India’s fight against cross-border terrorism remains unwavering.

On May 7, India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories following the deadly attack. The four-day operation, ending May 10 with a mutual halt in hostilities, showcased India’s military prowess. “Pakistan tried to breach our defenses from Leh to Sir Creek but failed,” Singh said. “Our forces exposed their air defense system, proving we can inflict heavy losses anytime, anywhere.”

Singh clarified that India exercised restraint, focusing solely on countering terrorism. “Starting a war was not the goal. I’m proud our forces met every objective, but our battle against terrorism continues,” he added. He referenced India’s historical capability, noting the 1965 war’s advance to Lahore and warning that “one route to Karachi passes through the creek” in 2025.

Highlighting the operation’s success, Singh praised the joint efforts of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, calling them the “three pillars” of India’s strength. “The seamless coordination during Operation Sindoor demonstrates our ability to tackle any challenge,” he said, reaffirming the government’s push for greater inter-service collaboration.

Singh also addressed the ongoing Sir Creek border dispute, accusing Pakistan of “flawed intentions” and pointing to their recent military buildup in the region as evidence. “India has sought dialogue, but Pakistan’s actions raise concerns,” he noted.

Performing the traditional ‘shastra puja’—a ritual he has observed for years, including as Union Home Minister—Singh lauded the soldiers’ courage and strategy. “Your valor ensures India’s sovereignty and integrity remain uncompromised,” he told the troops, expressing confidence in their ability to defeat any adversary.
