Indian National Injured as Missile Debris Falls in Abu Dhabi Residential Area

Intercepted ballistic missile debris injures Indian national and 161 others in Abu Dhabi.

An Indian national sustained minor injuries after debris from a intercepted missile fell in a residential area of Abu Dhabi, authorities confirmed on Monday. The incident occurred in the Al Shawamekh area after air defence systems successfully neutralised an incoming ballistic missile.

According to officials, emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site after the interception. Falling debris from the missile landed in the neighbourhood, causing injuries and prompting swift action from local authorities to secure the area and assist those affected.

In a statement, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said the incident resulted in minor injuries to the Indian national and urged the public to rely only on official sources for information, cautioning against the spread of rumours or unverified claims.

Reports indicate that a total of 161 people were injured in the incident, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those affected include nationals from multiple countries, including the UAE, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and several others, reflecting the diverse expatriate population in the region.

The development comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, following joint military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran since late February. The situation has heightened security concerns across the region, with authorities remaining on high alert to prevent further incidents.
