Massive Fire at Delhi Electronics Showroom: 15 Fire Tenders Battle Blaze
Massive fire guts Janakpuri electronics showroom, over 75 firefighters deployed.
A massive fire broke out at an electronics showroom in Delhi's Janakpuri area early Wednesday morning, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the blaze was reported at around 4:15 am at a Vijay Sales showroom located in west Delhi. Fire officials rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert and launched efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Officials said the fire originated in the basement of the ground-plus-three-storey commercial building before rapidly engulfing the entire premises. The showroom, spread across nearly 350 square yards, housed electronic appliances, electrical equipment, furniture and other fixtures, all of which fuelled the intensity of the blaze. Thick smoke and flames quickly spread through multiple floors, making firefighting operations more challenging.
An extensive emergency response was initiated, with more than 15 fire tenders and over 75 firefighters deployed to the site. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control while ensuring that it did not spread to adjoining buildings. Authorities also secured the surrounding area as a precaution and coordinated rescue and containment efforts throughout the operation.

The Delhi Fire Service said teams continued cooling operations after controlling the major flames to eliminate any remaining hotspots. Officials have not immediately confirmed the extent of property damage, but significant losses are expected because of the large quantity of electronic goods and furnishings stored inside the showroom. No casualties or injuries had been officially reported at the time of the latest update.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Fire officials are expected to conduct a detailed investigation after the site is declared safe to identify the origin of the blaze and assess whether any electrical fault or other factor triggered the incident. Authorities will also evaluate the structural condition of the building before allowing access to the premises.
Incidents of commercial building fires highlight the importance of strict adherence to fire safety norms, particularly in establishments dealing with electrical equipment and other combustible materials. Officials have urged businesses to ensure that fire prevention systems, emergency exits and safety equipment remain functional to minimise risks and enable a swift response during emergencies.
