In a heartbreaking road tragedy, seven members of a single family lost their lives on the spot when a heavily loaded sand truck veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with their car near Sangam mandal in Nellore district, police confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
The victims, residents of Nellore town, were traveling to Atmakur government hospital to visit relatives when the devastating crash unfolded. Among the deceased was a 15-year-old girl, turning what should have been a routine journey into an unimaginable nightmare for the close-knit group.
“Seven people from the same family, including the young girl, were killed instantly in the impact near Sangam,” a senior police official shared with PTI, describing the scene as one of utter devastation. The truck driver, who escaped unharmed, abandoned the vehicle and fled the site, prompting an urgent manhunt to apprehend him and ascertain the cause—possibly reckless speeding or loss of control.

Authorities have swiftly registered a case under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving resulting in death, with investigations underway to reconstruct the sequence of events.
