Sony Sports Launches 'Not A Gentleman's Game' Featuring Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur fronts new campaign ahead of Women's Asia Cup.

India women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has featured in Sony Sports Network's latest campaign, titled 'Not a Gentleman's Game', ahead of the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026. The campaign celebrates the team's aggressive style of cricket, competitive mindset and growing influence on the international stage. It aims to challenge the traditional description of cricket as a "gentleman's game" while highlighting the intensity and determination of India's women's team.

The campaign showcases the work that goes into India's success, including demanding training sessions, strength workouts and the physical challenges faced by players before they step onto the field. It then shifts to match-day moments, packed stadiums and India's achievements in world cricket. The central message is that the standards of competitiveness and ambition in the sport are not defined by gender, with the team's blue jersey representing India's identity and success.

The film begins with Amitabh Bachchan referring to the familiar phrase that cricket is a gentleman's game before Harmanpreet challenges the idea through her confident presence. The campaign portrays the Indian team as fearless and aggressive, emphasising their desire to compete strongly and play for victory. It comes at a significant time for the team, with India entering the upcoming continental tournament as world champions and looking to maintain their momentum.

Harmanpreet said the team's approach to the sport is anything but gentle, pointing to the intensity, confidence and ambition required to compete at the highest level. She said the campaign reflects the team's preparation and determination while making it clear that India are focused on winning. The captain added that the squad now wants to carry its confidence from the world stage into the Women's T20 Asia Cup and challenge for another major title.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in the UAE from August 28 to September 13, with India facing several important contests during the competition. One of the biggest fixtures will be the India-Pakistan clash on September 5, which is expected to attract significant attention. India's status as world champions adds further expectations around the team as it begins its campaign in the continental tournament.

The campaign also seeks to underline the changing position of women's cricket in India, where the women's team has increasingly attracted large audiences and recognition. Sony Sports Network described Harmanpreet and her teammates as a side that plays fearless and aggressive cricket and enters matches with a winning mindset. With the Women's T20 Asia Cup approaching, the team will now look to translate that confidence and competitive attitude into performances on the field.
