Revanth Reddy Unveils Tech-Driven CM Cup 2026 Across Telangana

Statewide digital sports initiative targets grassroots talent identification.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday unveiled the official poster for the second edition of the CM Cup, scheduled to be held across Telangana from January 17, 2026, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots sports infrastructure and participation. The CM Cup has been positioned as a key platform to identify emerging talent from rural and urban regions alike, while also promoting inclusive sporting opportunities across age groups and disciplines.

The tournament will be organised under the supervision of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATS) and will encompass competitions in 44 sporting disciplines. Events will be conducted in a structured manner from the village level to the state level, ensuring wide participation and systematic progression. Officials stated that the expanded scale of the tournament is expected to significantly increase athlete engagement and enhance the competitive ecosystem within the state.

A major focus of the 2026 edition is its comprehensive digital integration. From gram panchayats to state-level championships, the entire process will be digitally enabled through online registration, centralised data collection, and real-time monitoring. This system is designed to ensure transparency in team selection, match outcomes, and athlete progression, while minimising manual intervention and administrative delays.

To support participants and administrators, SATS will introduce advanced smart support systems, including a WhatsApp bot, an AI-powered chatbot, and an AI-enabled call centre offering assistance in Telugu, Hindi, and English. In addition, comparative data analysis of winners across different editions of the CM Cup will be used for performance monitoring, policy feedback, and grievance redressal, allowing for evidence-based improvements in future tournaments.

Another significant innovation is the introduction of a Unique Player Identification System, which will provide each athlete with a digital ID for long-term data storage and performance tracking. This initiative aims to support sustained athlete development and facilitate future sporting pathways. For the first time in Telangana, competitions will also be held at the Assembly constituency level, creating a direct link between grassroots participation and district and state championships, and further strengthening the state’s sports development framework.
