Report: Arsenal Reach Agreement For £75 Million Bruno Guimaraes Transfer

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal worth £75 million ($101 million) with Newcastle United to sign Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to media reports. The proposed transfer, if completed, would represent one of the Premier League champions' biggest signings of the summer as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
Guimaraes' future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks after reports suggested the 28-year-old was interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium. The midfielder joined Newcastle from French club Lyon in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the club's most influential players. Last season, he scored nine goals and registered eight assists across all competitions while serving as Newcastle's captain.
Following Brazil's FIFA World Cup campaign, Guimaraes rejoined Newcastle during the club's pre-season training camp in Spain. Before his departure as Newcastle manager last week, Eddie Howe had acknowledged concerns about the possibility of losing the influential midfielder, underlining Guimaraes' importance to the squad.

Arsenal have been comparatively quiet in the transfer market despite rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea making several high-profile signings. While Arteta has not publicly commented on reports linking the club with Guimaraes, he recently stated that Arsenal remained "very active" and "very ambitious" in strengthening the team before the start of the new campaign.
Speaking about the club's transfer plans, Arteta said Arsenal were looking to increase competition within the squad and address areas that required improvement. The Premier League champions are scheduled to begin the defence of their league title against Coventry at the Emirates Stadium on August 21. Neither Arsenal nor Newcastle United has officially confirmed the reported transfer agreement.
