Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the 25th All India Police Water Sports Championship, an annual event bringing together police personnel from across the country to compete in various aquatic disciplines. The event aims to foster physical fitness, team spirit, and camaraderie among law enforcement officers.
Speaking at the virtual inauguration, Dhami highlighted the importance of sports in building resilience and discipline within the police force. He praised the organizers for maintaining the championship for over two decades and encouraged participants to showcase both skill and sportsmanship.

Officials said the event also serves as a platform for officers to exchange training techniques and best practices, promoting inter-agency collaboration and strengthening the professional network of India’s law enforcement community.
Due to ongoing safety considerations, the inauguration and opening ceremonies were held virtually, though on-ground competitions are being conducted with full adherence to security and safety protocols. Organizers assured that strict measures are in place to ensure the safety of all participants.
The Uttarakhand police also emphasized that such sporting events play a key role in enhancing morale, promoting healthy lifestyles, and encouraging competitive spirit among personnel, aligning with broader government initiatives to support wellness and fitness in public service sectors.
