No Intent Behind Mistaken Like! Virat Kohli Quells Instagram Controversy

Virat Kohli Quells Instagram Controversy: ‘No Intent’ Behind Mistaken Like

Cricket icon Virat Kohli addressed a social media storm on Friday after fans spotted his verified Instagram handle liking a post from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur.

The incident triggered rampant speculation, with some users tagging Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, in comments and fueling online chatter. Kohli swiftly clarified the matter on Instagram Stories, urging fans to avoid reading too much into it.

In a concise statement, Kohli explained, “While clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you.” The like, which had gone viral, has since been removed from the post.

The controversy erupted when eagle-eyed netizens noticed Kohli’s handle among the likes, prompting varied reactions—some dismissed it as a glitch or a manager’s error, while others spun baseless narratives.

The timing raised eyebrows, as Kohli had just shared a heartfelt birthday post for Anushka on May 1. The couple, married since 2017, welcomed their second child, Akaay, in February 2024.

Kohli’s prompt response reflects his intent to curb misinformation, a recurring challenge for public figures in the digital age.

As the cricketer prepares for upcoming matches, his statement aims to shift focus back to his professional commitments and family life, leaving little room for unwarranted speculation.
