Kashmir-Delhi Cargo Train to Revolutionize Export of Finest Products!
New daily cargo train from Kashmir to Delhi to boost exports of apples, saffron, and handicrafts.
The Railway Board has approved the launch of the Joint Parcel Product-Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) train, a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the export of Kashmir’s renowned fruits and handicrafts. Operating daily from Budgam Railway Station in Kashmir to Adarsh Nagar in Delhi, this cargo train, equipped with an SLR and eight parcel vans, will provide a faster and more reliable alternative to road transport for local traders.
The train, set to commence operations soon, will cover the distance in approximately 23 hours, outpacing road transport. In its first year, it will operate on a pilot basis, with security managed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at both ends. Vivek Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager for Jammu Division, highlighted that the JPP-RCS aims to promote freight transportation and foster private sector participation in railway logistics, marking a first for the Jammu division.
Uchit Singhal, Senior Commerce Divisional Manager, emphasized the train’s role in empowering Kashmir’s traders by facilitating the swift delivery of goods like apples, saffron, walnuts, Pashmina shawls, and carpets across India. Loading and unloading facilities will be available at Bari Brahmana station in Samba district, ensuring seamless operations.
