Full 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Schedule Released: Dates, Venues and Ticket Booking Guide

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics announces a full schedule with equal representation for women’s and men’s teams.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, poised to be the largest in history with 51 sports and 351 medal events across 49 venues in 18 zones spanning the Greater Los Angeles area and Oklahoma City, will unfold from July 14 to July 30, 2028, organisers LA28 announced on November 12, 2025. Marking the city's third Summer Olympics—after 1932 and 1984—the event will welcome approximately 11,200 athletes, with a groundbreaking 50.5 per cent female participation rate, ensuring every team sport features an equal or greater number of women's teams than men's for the first time ever. The dual-venue opening ceremony at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET on July 14 (6:30 a.m. IST on July 15), blending spectacle with sustainability by leveraging existing infrastructure without new permanent builds.

Competition ignites early, with preliminary team events in baseball, basketball, field hockey, rugby sevens, water polo, handball, and cricket commencing July 12—two days pre-ceremony—to accommodate extended formats, while canoe slalom debuts on Day 0 (July 14) in Oklahoma City. Day 1 (July 15) shatters traditions by prioritising women's events, headlined by the women's 100m track final at the Coliseum—the first such opening-night spotlight—alongside the women's triathlon and 15 other finals, underscoring gender equity championed by World Athletics president Sebastian Coe. Track and field dominates the first week at the Coliseum, swapping its usual slot with swimming, which shifts to the second week at a transformed SoFi Stadium pool to allow venue reconfiguration; this logistical flip, last seen in 1968 Mexico City, amplifies early athletics buzz. Flag football makes its Olympic debut on Day 1, running through July 22, while lacrosse returns after 1908, spanning July 24-29; cricket, absent since 1900, crowns women's and men's champions on Days 6 and 15, respectively.

The marathon-packed finale builds to "Super Saturday" on July 29 (Day 15), the Games' pinnacle with 26 finals across 23 sports—including 15 team medal matches and golds in athletics, basketball, and boxing—before women's and men's marathons close the roads on July 29-30. Swimming anchors the last day with medley relay finals, followed by the men's basketball gold and closing ceremony at the Coliseum on July 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET (7:30 a.m. IST on July 31). Venues like the Rose Bowl (soccer, lacrosse), Crypto.com Arena (gymnastics, basketball), and Venice Beach (beach volleyball) evoke LA's diverse tapestry, with softball and canoe slalom in Oklahoma City minimising costs; the Paralympics follow August 15-27, sharing most sites. This 17-day spectacle, expecting 14 million tickets sold, emphasises inclusivity, with new disciplines like squash and breaking alongside classics, promising 22 more medals than Paris 2024.

Ticket registration opens in January 2026 via LA28.org, managed by official providers AXS and EVENTIM, with sales progressing through phases: initial lotteries for high-demand sessions, followed by general availability in mid-2027; prices start at $28, sans dynamic pricing, and Visa is the sole payment method. Priority access favours LA-area residents near venues, while global fans can subscribe to the LA28 newsletter for alerts; hospitality packages via On Location—bundling premium seats, hotels, transport, and VIP events—launch concurrently in 2026. With flights and accommodations booking up fast—Delta and United are already teasing Olympic-themed fares—early planning is key, as 2028's urban sprawl demands efficient transit via expanded Metro lines to the Olympic Village at UCLA.

As LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover urges fans to "start planning what events you want to attend," the schedule's release—three years out—fuels anticipation for a Games blending Hollywood flair with athletic grit, potentially rivalling 1984's profitability amid a $5 billion budget. From women's empowerment milestones to cricket's revival drawing South Asian crowds, the 2028 Olympics could redefine legacy, inviting the world to SoCal's sun-soaked arenas for history in the making.
