Delhi CM’s Vision to Create Global Champions with Top Sports Facilities

Delhi CM pledges world-class facilities for athletes' success.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed her government’s commitment to elevating the capital into a premier hub for sports by providing world-class facilities and comprehensive support for athletes. Speaking at an event at Thyagaraj Stadium, where she engaged with young sportspersons and international players, Gupta outlined her vision to empower athletes to achieve global success and bring pride to India.

Gupta emphasized her dream of seeing Delhi’s athletes become world champions, carrying the Indian tricolour to new heights on national and international platforms. To realize this, her administration has increased prize money for medal-winning athletes and is implementing measures to provide professional coaching, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and enhanced nutrition support.

The Chief Minister lauded the achievements of athletes such as Ravi Dahiya, Sharad Kumar, Tejaswin Shankar, Narayan Thakur, Narendra Grewal, and Pritam Rani, noting that their successes inspire millions and reflect the pride of 1.4 billion Indians. She also announced substantial cash rewards and employment opportunities for athletes who secure medals at prestigious events, including the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and National Games.

Education and Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, present alongside legislators and dignitaries, reinforced this commitment, assuring athletes that their concerns would be prioritized. “The government will provide every possible support. Athletes should focus solely on winning medals for Delhi and the country,” Sood stated, underscoring the administration’s dedication to fostering sporting excellence.
