Tibetan leader praises PM Modi’s leadership, India’s hospitality.
The 14th Dalai Lama, Tibet’s revered spiritual leader, extended warm birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, lauding his role in India’s remarkable progress. In a heartfelt letter shared on the Central Tibetan Administration’s website, the Dalai Lama wished Modi good health and celebrated India’s growth under his leadership.
“As India’s longest-staying guest, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative development and prosperity over the years,” the Dalai Lama wrote. “I congratulate you on the growing confidence and strength India has achieved.” He praised India as a global beacon of harmony and stability, emphasizing its role as the world’s largest democracy and a model of religious pluralism. “I proudly call myself a messenger of India, sharing my admiration for its deeply rooted diversity,” he added.
Reflecting on the deep ties between Tibetans and India, the Dalai Lama expressed profound gratitude for the country’s hospitality. “India is not only the source of our spiritual heritage but has been our physical home for over 66 years. We remain deeply thankful to the government and people of India,” he said. The Tibetan community, exiled in India since 1959, has found refuge in places like Dharamshala, where the Dalai Lama resides.

PM Modi’s milestone birthday was marked by widespread tributes from dignitaries and politicians, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launching a “Sewa Pakhwada” campaign, running until October 2. The initiative includes nationwide health camps, cleanliness drives, intellectual gatherings, and fairs promoting indigenous products, showcasing the BJP’s commitment to welfare and development under Modi’s leadership.
