CM Manik Saha Announces Transformation Plans for Tripura’s Future

Massive infrastructure projects promise to transform Tripura’s landscape.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state is poised for a major transformation as multiple infrastructure projects near completion. Speaking to reporters at his residence in Agartala on Wednesday evening, Saha highlighted key developments aimed at boosting the state’s growth and economy.

A 16-story, earthquake-resistant government office building, designed in a pendulum style, is under construction at Gurkhabasti in Agartala to house nearly all state departments. Additionally, the foundation for Unity Mall has been laid at Amtali in West Tripura, and a multi-level car parking facility is being developed in the city center to address urban needs.

Saha revealed that the state government has partnered with the Tata Group through an MoU to transform the historic Pushpabant Palace into a five-star hotel, a move expected to elevate Tripura’s tourism and economic profile. “Once these projects are completed, Tripura’s face will change,” he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized Tripura’s strong economic standing, noting it ranks second among northeastern states in GSDP and per capita income. The state’s budget has increased significantly from Rs 27,000 crore in FY 2024-25 to Rs 32,000 crore in FY 2026, reflecting substantial investment in infrastructure to drive growth.

Saha also highlighted efforts to boost employment, with over 20,000 regular government posts filled since 2018 and ongoing recruitment drives. Additionally, many individuals have found opportunities in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), further strengthening the state’s economy.

Addressing employee welfare, Saha noted that the government has raised Dearness Allowance (DA) from 3% in 2022 to 29% despite financial constraints, aligning closer to central government pay scales. He added that releasing 1% DA costs the state Rs 100 crore, benefiting 1.03 lakh employees and 83,000 pensioners.

“Tripura is on the right path,” Saha said, underscoring the government’s commitment to development, employment, and financial stability.
