Allahabad HC Halts RCB Cricketer Yash Dayal’s Arrest in Exploitation Case
Court shields Yash Dayal from arrest.
The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday granted a stay on the arrest of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal in a case involving allegations of sexual exploitation. The division bench of Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar ordered that no coercive action be taken against the 27-year-old until the next hearing, according to Dayal’s counsel, Gaurav Tripathi.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Dayal on July 6 at Indirapuram Police Station, Ghaziabad, under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses sexual intercourse through deceitful means, such as false promises of marriage. The complainant, who met Dayal around five years ago via social media, alleged he exploited her emotionally, mentally, and physically under the pretext of marriage, introducing her to his family as a prospective daughter-in-law. She claimed to have evidence, including chats and photos, and reported suffering depression and attempting suicide due to Dayal’s alleged postponements and involvement with other women.
Dayal, in his writ petition, denied any physical relationship or false promises, asserting the relationship was a mutual friendship that soured due to the complainant’s behavior. He also alleged she stole his iPhone and laptop and extorted money, claims he says are supported by evidence. The court’s decision to stay his arrest offers temporary relief as the case awaits further hearings.
