With Two-Month Meets and Joint Rallies, INDIA Alliance Reshapes Strategy Against BJP

Opposition bloc plans legal move on SIR and regular coordination meetings.

A key meeting of Opposition parties under the INDIA bloc concluded in New Delhi, where leaders collectively outlined a renewed political and electoral strategy aimed at strengthening their challenge to the BJP-led NDA government. The discussions focused on several pressing national issues, including alleged concerns over electoral roll revisions, exam paper leaks, unemployment, and broader economic challenges.

One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the decision to write a formal letter to the Chief Justice of India regarding apprehensions linked to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition parties raised concerns about the fairness and transparency of the process, alleging possible manipulation. The bloc agreed to jointly submit what they described as a “protest letter,” marking a coordinated institutional outreach on electoral integrity issues.

The alliance also placed significant emphasis on education-related controversies, particularly recent NEET examination paper leaks. Leaders expressed concern over what they described as systemic failures in managing national-level examinations, and some called for accountability from the Union Education Minister. They highlighted the impact on students across the country, arguing that repeated irregularities have eroded public trust in the examination system.

Economic issues formed another key part of the deliberations, with leaders expressing concern over unemployment, inflation, and the overall economic climate. The bloc demanded that the central government convene an all-party meeting to discuss these challenges in detail. Senior leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, criticized the government’s handling of economic and foreign policy matters, stating that corrective measures were urgently needed.

The INDIA bloc also focused on internal coordination and alliance strengthening. It was decided that the coalition would hold meetings every two months, with the next scheduled gathering set for August in Hyderabad. Additionally, during Parliament’s Monsoon Session, the bloc will hold daily coordination meetings to ensure a unified parliamentary strategy on key issues of public interest.

The meeting was attended by prominent Opposition leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Omar Abdullah, and Supriya Sule. However, parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam were notably absent, reportedly due to differences with the Congress party, reflecting continuing internal divergences within the broader Opposition alliance.
