With AIADMK in Turmoil, EPS Gears Up For Fifth Phase of ‘Makkalai Kappom’ Campaign

EPS Gears Up for Fifth Phase of ‘Makkalai Kappom’ Campaign to Reclaim Tamil Nadu

In the midst of what could be its largest unity challenge since the passing of J Jayalalitha, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) is set to launch the fifth phase of his ambitious statewide campaign, Makkalai Kappom Thamizhagathai Meetpom ("Let Us Protect the People, Let Us Reclaim Tamil Nadu"), on September 17, 2025, from Dharmapuri.

This 10-day campaign, concluding on September 26 in Kulithalai, Karur, aims to galvanize public support and challenge the ruling DMK government as the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections loom. The campaign will span five districts—Dharmapuri, Namakkal, The Nilgiris, Dindigul, and Karur—with EPS addressing 19 public meetings directly from his campaign vehicle.

This marks the latest leg of his grassroots movement, which has already covered approximately 150 constituencies since its inception in July 2025.

EPS’s fiery speeches are expected to focus on critiquing the DMK’s governance, highlighting issues like unemployment, rising prices, and alleged administrative failures, while presenting AIADMK’s vision for a revitalized Tamil Nadu.

The *Makkalai Kappom* campaign has been a cornerstone of AIADMK’s strategy to reconnect with voters, with EPS positioning himself as a leader committed to the people’s welfare. Political analysts view this phase as critical, as it targets key regions where AIADMK seeks to consolidate its voter base.

The campaign’s slogan, emphasizing protection and reclamation, resonates with the party’s narrative of restoring Tamil Nadu’s pride and prosperity. As EPS embarks on this high-energy tour, the AIADMK aims to build momentum and counter the DMK’s narrative ahead of the elections. With Tamil Nadu’s political landscape heating up, all eyes are on how EPS’s campaign will shape voter sentiment in the coming months.
