WAIT AND WATCH!! Vijayendra's Threat To CM Siddharamaiah Ahead of Assembly
Speaking to reporters in Udupi, Vijayendra vowed that his party would spotlight critical issues like the deteriorating fiscal health, crumbling law and order, and stalled development during the 15-day session.
Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday, accusing him of driving the state into a financial crisis ahead of the legislature session starting March 3. Speaking to reporters in Udupi, Vijayendra vowed that his party would spotlight critical issues like the deteriorating fiscal health, crumbling law and order, and stalled development during the 15-day session, which kicks off with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s address at Vidhana Soudha.
Siddaramaiah, who doubles as Finance Minister, is set to present his record 16th budget on March 7, with the 2025-26 budget projected to hit Rs 4 lakh crore—up from Rs 3.71 lakh crore this fiscal year. Vijayendra contrasted this with the BJP’s tenure under B S Yediyurappa, when “every district eagerly awaited special grants.” Now, he lamented, “Siddaramaiah has tied his own hands with guarantee schemes,” leaving departments like irrigation and PWD struggling to pay Rs 6,000 crore in electricity bills, as admitted by Energy Minister K J George.
The BJP plans to grill the government on multiple fronts: the lack of MLA development funds, the closure of nine universities established under BJP rule due to a Rs 300-400 crore shortfall, and rising lawlessness. Vijayendra also addressed internal party friction, with rebels like Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Ramesh Jarkiholi demanding his ouster. Dismissing the dissent, he predicted a swift resolution, noting, “State presidents have been named in 12 states; Karnataka’s turn is near.”
On rumors linking Deputy CM D K Shivakumar to the BJP after a Shivaratri event with Amit Shah, Vijayendra scoffed, “There’s no such thing.” Yet, he hinted at brewing unrest in Congress, saying, “Watch for developments—several CM aspirants are jostling.”
