Vijay’s TVK Forms Manifesto Committee Ahead of 2026 Tamil Nadu Polls
TVK forms manifesto committee as court orders Jana Nayagan certification.
Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay's political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has formally announced the creation of a specialized election manifesto committee to formulate its vision and policies in preparation for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, signaling an intensified focus on grassroots development and statewide progress.
The newly constituted committee is tasked with conducting widespread consultations throughout Tamil Nadu, actively seeking inputs from diverse sections of society including ordinary citizens, representatives of small and micro businesses, labour unions, leading economic and professional experts, chambers of commerce, employee associations, agricultural organizations, educators, doctors, nurses, women's groups, and youth organizations to ensure the manifesto reflects broad-based aspirations.
Key members appointed to the committee comprise Dr Arunraj, JCD Prabhakar, A Rajmohan, TSK Mayuri, Sampath Kumar, and Arul Prakasam, who will oversee the systematic collection of data, stakeholder interactions, and drafting process, with the ultimate goal of crafting a comprehensive document aimed at accelerating Tamil Nadu's overall development and enhancing the quality of life for its people.

This significant political announcement was made on Friday, January 9, 2026, coinciding precisely with a major judicial victory for Vijay when the Madras High Court directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to promptly issue a U/A 16+ certificate to his film Jana Nayagan, overcoming previous delays that had threatened its timely release.
The court's intervention, where Justice PT Asha critiqued potential objections as afterthoughts and cautioned against precedents that could hinder creative works, provided crucial relief to the production team after the original January 9 release date was postponed amid certification hurdles, with industry reports now indicating a likely shift to the Pongal festive window on January 14 for what is promoted as Vijay's farewell cinematic appearance before his complete immersion in politics.
