Vijay’s Tamil Nadu CM Swearing-In On May 7: Key Attendees Expected

Vijay’s oath ceremony may see top political leaders attending

Actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, marking a significant political milestone following the recent Assembly elections. The ceremony is expected to draw widespread attention as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) moves to form the government.

The development comes amid a crucial political realignment in the state, with leaders from the Indian National Congress meeting Vijay at the TVK headquarters in Chennai. The discussions are seen as a key step toward formalizing support for the new government. Reports indicate that both the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the Congress Legislative Party have decided to extend full backing to TVK.

With Congress securing five seats in the Assembly, its support boosts TVK’s tally to 113 seats. However, the party still falls short of the halfway mark required to secure a clear majority, highlighting the importance of continued alliance-building efforts in the coming days.

Among the high-profile attendees expected at the swearing-in ceremony is Rahul Gandhi, whose presence is likely to signal the strengthening of ties between Congress and TVK. The event is anticipated to witness significant turnout, with over 5,000 invitees, including all elected TVK legislators, who secured 108 seats in the election.

In addition to Congress, there are indications—though not officially confirmed—of support or attendance from representatives of other parties aligned against the BJP. These include the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), suggesting the possible contours of a broader coalition in the state.
