Uttarakhand CM Inspects NDRF Facilities, Reviews Emergency Response Plans In Gadarpur

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday visited the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) battalion in Gadarpur and reviewed the state’s disaster preparedness, rescue infrastructure, and emergency response capabilities. During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with NDRF officers and personnel and assessed the measures in place to handle natural calamities. According to a state government press release, Dhami reviewed the operational readiness of the NDRF unit and discussed the challenges involved in disaster management in Uttarakhand.

The state is considered highly vulnerable to natural disasters due to its mountainous terrain and exposure to events such as landslides, floods, cloudbursts, and earthquakes. During his interaction with officials, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong and quick-response mechanism to deal with emergencies. He emphasised the need for coordination between different agencies involved in rescue and relief operations to ensure timely assistance reaches affected communities. The visit comes amid Uttarakhand’s continued focus on strengthening disaster management systems.

Given the state’s geographical conditions, authorities have regularly worked on improving preparedness, upgrading rescue equipment, and enhancing coordination between local administrations, security agencies, and specialised disaster response teams. Dhami also took stock of the facilities available with the NDRF battalion, including rescue equipment and operational resources used during emergency situations. NDRF teams play a crucial role in disaster response across the country, providing specialised support during major incidents involving natural and man-made disasters.
