Udhayanidhi Stalin Launches Scathing Attack on Congress; DMK Vows Never to Trust Again
DMK severs alliance with Congress after backing Vijay's TVK minority government in Tamil Nadu.
A sharp political confrontation has erupted in Tamil Nadu after Udhayanidhi Stalin launched a strong attack on the Indian National Congress for extending support to the minority government led by actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Speaking at a party event in Chennai, the DMK leader accused Congress of betrayal and said the party should never again be trusted by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Udhayanidhi Stalin claimed that Congress leaders had secured electoral victories in Tamil Nadu largely because of the support of DMK cadre and the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin. He alleged that despite receiving political backing from the DMK alliance, Congress leaders switched sides for positions of power without informing their allies. “We should never trust Congress, which lacks basic gratitude and decency. We should never allow them near us,” he said, adding that the people of Tamil Nadu would deliver a political response to the party in the near future.
The DMK leader also blamed Congress for the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the national level, arguing that the opposition party’s political failures had indirectly strengthened the BJP’s position across the country. His remarks came amid a rapidly shifting political landscape in Tamil Nadu following TVK’s emergence as a major force in state politics and the formation of a minority government under Vijay’s leadership.

Chief Minister M K Stalin also reportedly questioned the long-term stability of the new TVK-led administration, stating that the government would not complete its full five-year term. The latest developments signal growing tensions within former opposition alliances in Tamil Nadu and underline the significant political realignment taking place after the state elections. Political observers believe the fallout between the DMK and Congress could reshape alliance equations ahead of future electoral contests in the state and at the national level.
