UDF Claims Kerala Mandate, Priyanka Gandhi And Antony Hail Victory

UDF leaders Priyanka Gandhi and AK Antony hail Kerala mandate as a turning point for governance and change.

The United Democratic Front’s (UDF) sweeping electoral performance in Kerala has been described by senior Congress leaders as a decisive mandate for change and a strong endorsement of the alliance’s promise of governance renewal. Early counting trends indicate that the UDF has crossed the majority mark with 102 seats, while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has been reduced to 35 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured 3 seats. Although final results are yet to be officially declared by the Election Commission, the trends point to a significant political shift in the state.

Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who campaigned extensively across Kerala, expressed gratitude to voters, calling the outcome an “overwhelming support” and a reaffirmation of public trust in the UDF alliance. She said the mandate would serve as a guiding force for the coalition over the next five years and emphasised that the alliance would work with “honesty and humility” to fulfil its commitments. Her statement framed the victory as both a political endorsement and a responsibility to deliver effective governance.

Priyanka Gandhi also highlighted the strong performance of the UDF in Wayanad, where the alliance reportedly secured all seven Assembly constituencies. She described the result as a resounding expression of faith from voters and noted that the district would now have multiple representatives working collectively for development. She further thanked party workers and local leaders for their sustained grassroots campaigning, which she said helped communicate the vision of a united and progressive Kerala across households.

Veteran Congress leader and former Defence Minister A.K. Antony also welcomed the outcome, calling it a clear rejection of the CPI(M)-led Left government. He said the result reflected public desire to prevent a third consecutive Left term in office and marked a turning point in Kerala’s political direction. Antony added that the Congress-led alliance would now focus on rebuilding governance structures and restoring administrative effectiveness in the state.

The coordinated messaging from senior UDF leaders underscores the alliance’s effort to frame the verdict not just as an electoral victory, but as a mandate for structural governance change. With strong expectations from voters, the coalition now faces the challenge of translating its electoral momentum into policy delivery and administrative performance. Political observers note that maintaining unity within the broad alliance will be key as the UDF transitions from campaigning to governance in Kerala’s evolving political landscape.
