Uddhav and Raj Thackeray to Announce Historic Alliance on December 24

Uddhav-Raj alliance confirmed for Maharashtra civic polls.

The long-anticipated political reconciliation between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray is poised to culminate in a formal alliance announcement scheduled for Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 12 PM, potentially reshaping the electoral landscape in Maharashtra ahead of crucial municipal polls.

Speculation surrounding the alliance intensified when senior Sena (UBT) figure Sanjay Raut posted an image of the Thackeray brothers on social media, accompanied by a succinct Marathi message pinpointing the exact timing of the upcoming declaration, fueling widespread anticipation among political observers and party supporters.

With elections for 29 municipal corporations—including prominent urban centres such as Mumbai and Pune—slated for January 15, 2026, and results to be counted the following day, sources indicate a structured seat-sharing formula whereby MNS is expected to contest approximately 60-70 seats while Sena (UBT) targets over 150 constituencies.

Sanjay Raut has elaborated that the collaborative effort will not be confined to Mumbai's high-stakes Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation battle but will extend to joint campaigns in five major corporations: Mumbai, Thane, Mira Bhayandar, Kalyan Dombivli, and Nashik, supplemented by coordinated public rallies in these areas and beyond, including Pune.

This strategic unification of the Thackeray cousins, marking their first significant electoral partnership in nearly two decades, builds on recent personal rapprochements—including shared public platforms opposing Hindi imposition in July 2025 and mutual family engagements during festivals, birthdays, and cultural events—signalling a concerted push to consolidate Marathi regional influence in Maharashtra's evolving political arena.
