Two Impostor Cops Loot Cash, Jewellery From Byadarahalli House in Bengaluru
Fake cops threaten couple with weapons and loot cash and gold from Byadarahalli home.
Two men allegedly posing as police officers robbed a house in the Byadarahalli area of the city, making away with cash and gold jewellery worth several lakhs, police said on Monday. The accused reportedly gained entry by claiming they were from a local police station before carrying out the crime.
According to police, the incident occurred when 53-year-old Hombalegowda, his wife Mangalamma, and their grandchild were at home. One suspect arrived in a private car dressed in a sub-inspector’s uniform and carrying a diary, while the second entered the house posing as a crime scene officer with a bag. Their appearance and claims reportedly convinced the family to let them inside.
Once inside, the men allegedly threatened the couple with a gun and a knife. Investigators said they confined Hombalegowda and tied both him and his wife with tape to prevent them from raising an alarm. The family was left helpless as the accused moved freely inside the house.

Police said the suspects ransacked the bedroom and fled with approximately ₹20 lakh in cash and about half a kilogram of gold jewellery. The robbers also allegedly snatched the couple’s mobile phones before leaving the premises.
The victim later told police he handed over the valuables out of fear and even pleaded with the attackers to take his wife’s mangalsutra, which they reportedly left behind. Before escaping, the suspects allegedly removed the house’s CCTV DVR in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the accused.
