TVK Releases Manifesto With Women-Centric Welfare And Education Loans
TVK manifesto promises welfare schemes for women, youth, fishermen.
Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has released its election manifesto for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, unveiling an extensive welfare-focused agenda centred on women, youth, and fisherfolk.
The manifesto, presented in a book format, largely reiterates earlier promises made by Vijay but structures them into a detailed policy blueprint aimed at expanding social welfare, economic support, and targeted subsidies. The party has positioned itself as focusing on three key voter groups it believes could significantly influence the electoral outcome.
Women have been placed at the core of TVK’s political strategy, with the party highlighting that they make up nearly 51 percent of Tamil Nadu’s electorate. In response to issues such as women’s safety and social security, the manifesto proposes a series of measures, including the provision of six free LPG cylinders annually and an increase in monthly financial assistance for women from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500. It also promises eight grams of gold under marriage assistance schemes, along with enhanced maternity benefits and expanded support for women-led self-help groups.

The document also outlines major educational and employment-linked proposals for young people. TVK has pledged collateral-free education loans of up to ₹25 lakh, covering studies from Class 12 to doctoral level, along with internship stipends and financial assistance for unemployed graduates and diploma holders. In addition, the party has promised collateral-free loans to encourage entrepreneurship among youth, aiming to strengthen job creation and self-employment opportunities.
On the welfare front for fisherfolk, the manifesto includes proposals such as a minimum support price for selected fish varieties, ₹27,000 as compensation during the annual fishing ban period, subsidised diesel, insurance coverage, and housing assistance. The party has described these measures as essential for supporting coastal livelihoods and stabilising incomes in vulnerable communities.
The manifesto also takes positions on national policy issues, including opposition to population-based delimitation and the “One Nation, One Poll” proposal, stating that it would resist both through legal and political means. As Vijay prepares to contest elections while remaining active in cinema, TVK is seeking to position itself as a welfare-driven alternative in Tamil Nadu politics, drawing comparisons in political ambition to past film stars who transitioned into governance.
