TMC MLAs From Three Districts To Join Bengal Administrative Review Meeting Today
Bengal CM chairs review meeting with MLAs and officials.
The West Bengal government is set to hold an administrative review meeting at the state secretariat Nabanna on Wednesday, chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with participation from bureaucrats, senior police officials, and elected representatives from Kolkata, Howrah, and South 24 Parganas districts. The meeting is part of a routine governance review process aimed at assessing administrative performance and addressing district-level issues, although the presence of certain Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislators has drawn political attention.
According to reports, several TMC MLAs from the three districts are expected to attend the meeting alongside government officials. The engagement is designed to facilitate coordination between the administration and elected representatives on matters related to development, law and order, and welfare implementation. However, uncertainty remains over the attendance of some legislators, including representatives from both ruling and opposition parties, as discussions continue ahead of the session.
Among those whose participation has been confirmed are two recently expelled TMC MLAs, Ritabrata Banerjee from Uluberia (Purba) in Howrah district and Sandipan Saha from Entally constituency in North Kolkata. Banerjee himself confirmed his attendance, stating that other legislators from Howrah have also indicated their willingness to join the review meeting. Their presence comes amid heightened political developments within the state unit of the TMC.

The political backdrop to the meeting has been further complicated by recent disciplinary action within the party. Both Banerjee and Saha were suspended shortly after the Chief Minister informed the media about an ongoing Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe into alleged mismatches in signatures on an Assembly-related document. The developments have intensified internal tensions within the ruling party and sparked wider debate in state political circles.
Following their suspension, both former TMC legislators have launched strong criticism against senior party leadership, particularly targeting Abhishek Banerjee, the party’s national general secretary and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They have accused him of centralizing decision-making within the party and adopting a corporate-style management approach, which they claim contributed to electoral setbacks and internal dissatisfaction within the organization.
The administrative review meeting, while officially focused on governance and district-level coordination, is now being closely watched for its political implications. With both current and expelled legislators expected to be present, the event underscores ongoing factional dynamics within the TMC and highlights the intersection of administrative processes and political developments in West Bengal.
