Three Minor Sisters Jump from Ninth Floor in Ghaziabad Apartment

Three sisters aged 12-16 jumped from the ninth floor in Ghaziabad amid a family row over an online gaming habit.

Three minor sisters died after jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment building in Ghaziabad early Wednesday, in an incident police say is linked to a dispute with their parents over excessive online gaming.

The girls have been identified as Pakhi (12), Prachi (14), and Vishika (16). The incident occurred at around 2 am at Bharat City, a large residential township in the district. Police officials said all three were found dead at the spot, and preliminary findings suggest they jumped together.

According to investigators, the sisters were extremely close and carried out most daily activities together, including attending school, eating meals, and sleeping. Police said the siblings had become heavily engaged in online gaming during the COVID-19 pandemic and were allegedly addicted to a task-based online game commonly referred to as a “Korean love game”.

Officials added that the girls’ parents had objected to their prolonged gaming habits and irregular school attendance, which may have led to tension at home. The exact sequence of events leading up to the incident is still being examined, and statements from family members and neighbours are being recorded.

A police team reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported and has launched a detailed investigation. Authorities said they are examining digital devices, reviewing activity logs, and assessing whether any external influence or coercion played a role. Further details are expected once the inquiry progresses.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about online gaming addiction among minors and the importance of mental health awareness and parental guidance. Police said the case remains under investigation and urged families to seek timely counselling support when dealing with behavioural or psychological distress among children.
