Telangana Ministers Condemn Rahul Gandhi Over AI Summit Protest

Central ministers from Telangana have sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following a shirtless protest allegedly organised by the Youth Congress at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The protest reportedly opposed the proposed India-US trade deal, which the Congress claims threatens India’s sovereignty.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, accused Rahul Gandhi of engaging in “cheap politics” that undermines India’s youth and entrepreneurial spirit. He said the protest disrupted the summit and labelled participants as behaving like “goondas and thugs” under Gandhi’s directions.
Kishan Reddy added that while India celebrated tangible outcomes from the AI summit, Rahul Gandhi’s actions distracted from progress and spread negativity. He further alleged that Gandhi consistently prioritizes political theatrics over India’s national interest.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also condemned the protest, calling it a “shameless double game” by the Congress. He highlighted the contrast between the disruptive protest and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, also from Congress, who praised Prime Minister Modi for hosting the summit.
Sanjay Kumar described the protest as an insult to the nation and an example of “political schizophrenia,” emphasising that opposition parties should prioritise national interest over theatrics. Both ministers reinforced that India’s global image and the AI summit’s objectives should not be overshadowed by partisan actions.
The AI Impact Summit, attended by world leaders and industry experts, aimed to showcase India as a hub for emerging technologies. The backlash from Telangana ministers underscores the growing political debate over protests and conduct at high-profile international events.
