Tej Pratap Yadav Demands Probe Into Alleged Harassment of His Parents

Patna witnessed fresh political drama within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Tuesday as Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, publicly demanded a probe into alleged “mental harassment” faced by his parents. The former Bihar minister threw his weight behind his sister, Rohini Acharya, who recently made explosive allegations against her younger brother Tejashwi Yadav and his close aide, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav. The feud has deepened internal tensions within the powerful Yadav family just days after the RJD’s dismal performance in the Bihar assembly elections.

Taking to social media, Tej Pratap claimed that certain individuals within the party were putting undue pressure on his parents and damaging the RJD’s integrity. He wrote that “Jaichands” — a historical metaphor for traitors — were working behind the scenes to destabilize both the family and the organisation. “If some people are making attempts to keep my parents, Lalu Prasad ji and Rabri Devi, under mental or physical pressure, it is not just an attack on my family but a blow to the very soul of the RJD,” he stated. Calling the matter serious, he requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Bihar government to order an impartial probe.

Tej Pratap also accused certain party members of corruption in ticket distribution and alleged that loyalty and hard work had been sidelined in favour of sycophancy and money power. He demanded immediate action against Sanjay Yadav, Rameez Nemat Khan, and Pritam Yadav if any evidence of misconduct or harassment was found. In another post, he warned that those responsible for insulting his sister would “face the consequences sooner or later,” asserting that the people of Bihar would not forgive anyone who tried to break the Yadav family.

The controversy escalated after Rohini Acharya’s emotional social media posts on Sunday, in which she claimed she had been “driven out” of her family home following the RJD’s election loss. Acharya alleged she was “abused” and accused of exchanging her kidney donation to her father for money and political opportunities. “I was accused of donating a filthy kidney to my father in exchange for crores and a ticket,” she wrote. Her statements have shocked many, especially since she had donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad in 2022, earning widespread praise at the time.

The sibling confrontation has cast a fresh shadow over the RJD’s already strained image after its poor election performance. While Tejashwi Yadav has not publicly responded to his brother’s statements, RJD insiders suggest the party is struggling to contain the fallout. With emotions running high and the family feud spilling into the public sphere, the episode has exposed the deep divisions within one of Bihar’s most influential political dynasties.
