Tej Pratap Lodges Police Complaint Over Death Threats by Former Party Spokesperson

Lalu's son alleges expelled aide threatens his life.

Tej Pratap Yadav, the president of Janshakti Janta Dal and the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad, has formally registered a police complaint accusing Santosh Renu Yadav—the recently expelled national spokesperson of his party—of repeatedly issuing explicit death threats directed at him, escalating concerns over his personal safety.

The former Bihar cabinet minister, who suffered an electoral defeat in the Mahua assembly constituency during the state's most recent assembly polls, has simultaneously submitted a written request to Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, urgently seeking the provision of enhanced security cover in response to the perceived imminent danger.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary acknowledged receipt of the correspondence on Saturday, confirming to reporters that the contents of the letter are undergoing thorough examination by relevant authorities, while the officer-in-charge at Sachivalay police station verified that a First Information Report has been duly lodged pursuant to Tej Pratap's detailed complaint, with investigative proceedings now actively underway.

As outlined in the filed complaint, Santosh Renu Yadav had initially been appointed to the position of national spokesperson within the JJD but was subsequently expelled from the party on December 14 following serious allegations of soliciting monetary payments from party workers and supporters in exchange for promises of employment opportunities and other undue favors, actions deemed contrary to the organization's core principles and ideology.

Subsequent to his expulsion, Renu is alleged to have resorted to a pattern of verbal abuse and direct death threats targeted at Tej Pratap Yadav through various social media platforms, prompting the current legal action, although multiple attempts to obtain a response or statement from the accused party proved unsuccessful amid the unfolding controversy that further complicates Tej Pratap's turbulent political trajectory, including his prior six-year suspension from the RJD in May over matters of personal conduct.
