Stalin Hits Back at Governor’s Criticism

CM accuses Ravi of maligning DMK, Tamil Nadu.

Chief Minister M K Stalin unleashed a fierce critique of Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Sunday, accusing him of engaging in “cheap politics” surpassing even the opposition’s tactics. Speaking at a government event in Dharmapuri to launch social welfare initiatives, Stalin alleged that Ravi, appointed by the BJP-led Union government, uses his position at Raj Bhavan to spread falsehoods about the DMK government, insult Tamil culture, and obstruct legislative progress.

Stalin highlighted his government’s welfare schemes, positioning Tamil Nadu as a national leader in social initiatives. “The Dravidian model is a beacon for the country, but some mischief mongers can’t tolerate our success and make baseless claims,” he said, directly targeting Ravi for allegedly undermining Tamil Nadu’s achievements in education, law and order, and women’s safety. The CM cited Union government statistics to assert Tamil Nadu’s top ranking among Indian states, contrasting it with BJP-ruled states, and accused Ravi of venting frustration through public attacks.

The remarks follow Ravi’s recent Independence Day speech, where he raised concerns about women’s safety and drug abuse among youth in Tamil Nadu. Stalin countered by referencing 2022 National Crime Records Bureau data, claiming BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh leads in crimes against women, and urged Ravi to focus criticism on those states. “The Union BJP government is using the Governor to carry out its agenda against Tamil Nadu’s people and sentiments,” Stalin charged.

Defiant, Stalin suggested Ravi’s actions inadvertently fuel the DMK’s resolve to uphold Tamil language and ideology. “Let him talk; I’m not bothered. My focus is on serving those who voted for us,” he said, spotlighting initiatives like “Ungaludan Stalin” and “Thayumanavar Scheme,” which he claimed have turned beneficiaries into ambassadors for the government’s work.

Stalin also accused Ravi of disrespecting the Tamil anthem, delaying bills, and creating panic with unfounded allegations. With Tamil Nadu ranking second in school education, Stalin dismissed the Governor’s critiques as politically motivated, emphasizing that the state’s progress speaks for itself.
