Sidhu's Wife Reveals Exact Condition for His Return to Punjab Politics

Navjot Singh Sidhu may be headed for a dramatic political comeback, but only under one condition — if the Congress declares him as its chief ministerial candidate for Punjab. This revelation was made by his wife and Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who spoke to reporters after meeting Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. She stated firmly that the couple does not believe in paying money to secure positions but is confident they can transform Punjab into a “golden state” if given the authority.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu emphasized that their politics has always been centered on Punjab’s welfare rather than personal gain. She claimed that while some leaders allegedly use vast sums of money to secure top posts, her husband has never operated that way. Without naming anyone specifically, she remarked that “the one who gives a suitcase of Rs 500 crore becomes the CM,” highlighting the role of money power in state politics. She insisted that Sidhu seeks empowerment to serve, not to bargain for positions.

She also pointed to severe infighting within the Punjab Congress unit, claiming that at least five leaders are eyeing the chief ministerial position. According to her, these internal disagreements are a major reason why Navjot Sidhu has not been allowed to rise within the party ranks. She added that Sidhu is strongly connected to the Congress and has deep admiration for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, but the internal rivalries make it unlikely that he will be promoted unless the party high command intervenes.

When asked about the possibility of Sidhu switching parties if the BJP offered him a leadership role, Navjot Kaur remained non-committal, saying she could not speak on his behalf. However, she affirmed that he would certainly return to active politics if the Congress declared him as its chief ministerial face. Otherwise, she said, he is financially stable, earning well, and content with his current engagements outside politics.

Navjot Singh Sidhu has been largely absent from the Congress’s activities over the past few months and did not participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign. Instead, he made headlines with his return to cricket commentary during the IPL 2024 season, a field where he continues to enjoy immense popularity. His recent ventures include launching a YouTube channel titled Navjot Sidhu Official, where he posts motivational talks, cricket insights, and personal reflections.

In earlier interactions, Sidhu stated that time would decide his return to politics, stressing that his political journey had always been for public welfare, not profit. With Punjab’s next Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, his potential comeback is already generating speculation within political circles. Whether the Congress meets the condition set by his wife may determine one of the most significant political moves ahead of the upcoming state polls.
