Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar Share Stage Amid Karnataka Power Struggle, Signaling Temporary Truce
Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar display unity amid Karnataka Congress leadership tussle.
Amid an intense power struggle within Karnataka’s ruling Congress party, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D.K. Shivakumar appeared together on stage in Bengaluru on Friday, signaling a temporary truce. They jointly launched the Integrated Child Development Scheme and the Griha Lakshmi Sahakara App, marking a rare show of unity amid persistent speculation of a leadership change.
Siddaramaiah shared on his social media that the event saw the launch of the department’s ambitious welfare schemes along with the Griha Lakshmi Sahakara App, with Shivakumar and other ministers in attendance. Shivakumar also posted about his participation in the Golden Jubilee program of the Integrated Child Development Scheme held at Bangalore Palace Grounds, emphasizing the collaborative spirit.
Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fulfilling its poll promises, highlighting achievements such as the Shakti scheme, which has reportedly provided over 600 crore free trips to women. His message underscored the seriousness with which the administration views its responsibilities, contrasting with the ongoing political speculations.

This joint public appearance comes against the backdrop of a persistent leadership tussle dating back to an alleged 2023 power-sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, with the latter’s supporters pushing for a transition in the Chief Minister’s post. The Congress high command, including senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, is reportedly involved in deliberations to resolve the issue.
The backdrop of this cooperation on stage raises questions about whether this signals a temporary ceasefire or if underlying tensions remain unresolved as Karnataka approaches critical governance milestones.
