Shiv Sena Launches 'Mission Gen Z' to Engage Young Elected Representatives

Shiv Sena launches youth outreach initiative connecting young leaders with governance.

The Shiv Sena has launched ‘Mission Gen Z’ as part of an effort to establish a more direct connection with younger generations and bring their priorities into governance and public policy discussions. The initiative, launched on Wednesday, focuses on engaging Gen Z and Gen Alpha and understanding the issues and expectations shaping their interaction with public institutions. The party said the programme is intended to create a structured platform through which young representatives can participate in discussions on governance and policy.

The first phase of ‘Mission Gen Z’ centred on a youth camp for young public representatives. More than 250 elected representatives from urban and rural areas across Maharashtra participated in the programme in Mumbai. The participants were between 20 and 30 years of age, bringing together a group of younger political representatives from different parts of the State. The camp was positioned as an initial step towards developing a sustained organisational outreach to younger sections of society.

The initiative reflects the party’s stated focus on engaging with the changing priorities of younger voters and representatives. By involving elected representatives from both urban and rural areas, the programme sought to bring together perspectives from different social and geographic settings. The emphasis on governance and public policy indicates that the outreach is intended to go beyond conventional political engagement and focus on issues that directly affect young people.

The participation of more than 250 representatives also gives the programme an organisational dimension, with the party seeking to create a direct channel between its younger members and its wider political structure. Representatives in the 20-to-30 age group are expected to bring perspectives shaped by contemporary concerns and changing expectations from political institutions. The youth camp provided an opportunity for these representatives to participate collectively in the initial phase of the mission.

The Shiv Sena has described ‘Mission Gen Z’ as an outreach effort covering both Gen Z and Gen Alpha, two generations whose engagement with politics, technology and public institutions is evolving rapidly. The programme is aimed at understanding these changing priorities and incorporating youth perspectives into discussions surrounding governance and public policy. The launch marks the beginning of the mission, with the first phase focused specifically on young elected representatives.

The initiative comes as political organisations increasingly seek to establish stronger connections with younger citizens and representatives. Through ‘Mission Gen Z’, the Shiv Sena is attempting to create a dedicated platform for youth engagement while linking their concerns with governance. The Mumbai youth camp, attended by over 250 young elected representatives, represents the first phase of the programme and is expected to serve as the foundation for the party’s broader outreach to younger generations.
