Shashi Tharoor Says He Has No Idea What CJP's Saurav Das is Referring To
Das shared PM Modi's Sri Vinayaka Mandir visit video on X.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was drawn into a social media exchange after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Saurav Das mentioned him while reacting to a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering prayers at a temple in Delhi. Das said the visuals reminded him of a previous comment by Tharoor and tagged the Congress leader in his post.
Modi visited the Sri Vinayaka Mandir in Delhi on Wednesday and offered prayers and performed rituals, including offering water to a Shivling. The visit came as Modi marked 25 years in public life as the head of a government. Das shared a clip of the temple visit on X and referred to what he described as a “banger” comment previously made by Tharoor.
In his post, Das addressed Tharoor using deliberately elaborate language, apparently referring to the Congress leader's reputation for using ornate vocabulary. “Dr. Tharoor, would it be an unconscionable imposition upon your eloquence to solicit a reprise of that ineffably felicitous observation, sir?” he wrote while tagging the Congress MP.

Tharoor responded to Das but indicated that he was not aware of the specific comment being referenced. “It wouldn’t, if I had the slightest idea what you are referring to! Do enlighten me,” Tharoor wrote in reply. His response kept the exchange focused on Das's reference rather than directly commenting on the temple visit or Modi's religious rituals.
The exchange comes amid continued political commentary on Modi's public appearances and social media posts involving political figures. In this case, Das's post connected the Prime Minister's temple visit with a previous remark attributed to Tharoor, while Tharoor's response suggested that he did not immediately understand the reference. The available exchange does not establish which earlier comment Das had in mind.
The interaction remained a social media exchange, with Tharoor asking Das to clarify the reference. There was no indication in the reported exchange that Tharoor had endorsed or criticised the content of Modi's temple visit. Das's original post and Tharoor's response instead centred on the Congress leader's earlier remark and his characteristic style of expression.
