Eligible Indian citizens can apply online from August 11 to August 31, 2026, with the Preliminary Examination tentatively scheduled for September and the Main Examination expected in November.
Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory, with selection based on state-wise and category-wise merit lists. Applicants must also have proficiency in the specified local language of the State or Union Territory they select. The local language requirement covers reading, writing, speaking and understanding, while candidates who studied the specified language in Class 10 or 12 and can produce the relevant marksheet or certificate may be exempted from the language proficiency test.
Under the eligibility criteria, applicants must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on April 1, 2026. The Preliminary Examination carries 100 marks, while the Main Examination carries 200 marks.
