Satheesan Warns CPI(M) of Major Revelations
Satheesan threatens CPI(M) with revelations in Mamkootathil controversy.
In a fiery response to the controversy surrounding suspended Congress MLA Shama Mohammed Mamkootathil, Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan issued a cryptic warning to the ruling CPI(M), hinting at bombshell revelations that could “shock Kerala.” Addressing reporters in Kozhikode, Satheesan cautioned the Left party against exploiting the issue, stating, “Don’t play too much on this—you’re in for a shock.” He also took a swipe at the Kerala BJP, which protested at his residence with a bull, suggesting they’d soon need it for an agitation against their own state chief, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
The controversy erupted after Malayalam actress Rini Ann George accused a “young leader” of misbehavior, later identified as Mamkootathil, prompting protests by the BJP and CPI(M)’s youth wing, DYFI. The Congress swiftly suspended Mamkootathil from its primary membership on Monday, a move Satheesan hailed as historic, emphasizing the party’s commitment to women’s dignity. “This decision marks a milestone in Kerala’s political history,” he said, noting that no other party had taken such a firm stand.
Satheesan accused the CPI(M) of hypocrisy, pointing out that an LDF MLA faces rape allegations and a Left minister was accused of making derogatory remarks against a woman. He alleged the CPI(M) was amplifying the Mamkootathil issue to deflect from hawala-related corruption charges against CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan’s son and senior party leaders. “They’re trying to bury their own scandals,” Satheesan charged.

The Mamkootathil case intensified as multiple women and a transgender person leveled similar accusations against him, sparking an internal Congress inquiry. Satheesan dismissed CPI(M)’s demand for Mamkootathil’s resignation as an MLA, calling the issue a “closed subject” due to the party’s decisive action.
As tensions rise, Satheesan’s bold remarks signal a brewing political storm, with the opposition leader promising revelations that could reshape Kerala’s political landscape. The public awaits clarity on what he described as a development that will “shock” the state, amid escalating rivalries between Congress, CPI(M), and BJP.
