Satheesan Participates In Delhi Protest as Congress Supports Students’ Demands

Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Tuesday joined the ongoing student protest in the national capital, expressing solidarity with demonstrators and supporting the Congress party’s stand against the police action during the agitation. His participation came as senior Congress leaders gathered at the protest site to back students demanding action over alleged examination irregularities.
Satheesan, who was in Delhi for meetings with Union Ministers and the Congress leadership, visited the protest venue after completing his official engagements. He interacted with students and conveyed support for their demands, highlighting the party’s position that student concerns should be addressed through dialogue and appropriate action.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, several Kerala MPs and other senior party leaders were also present at the demonstration. The presence of the Congress leadership gave the student protest a wider political dimension amid growing debate over examination transparency and government accountability.

The protest, organised under the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) banner, has continued in Delhi for several days and has received support from various political groups and student organisations. Hundreds of students have been demanding action over alleged NEET paper leaks and calling for measures including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Congress leaders said the students were raising important issues that required attention from the government. They criticised the handling of the protests and stressed that the right to peaceful demonstration is a key part of democratic expression. The party accused the NDA government of failing to adequately respond to concerns raised by students.
Satheesan’s visit was part of his broader schedule in the national capital, which included discussions on Kerala-related matters with Union Ministers and meetings with Congress leaders on organisational and political issues. With Parliament in session and the student agitation continuing, Congress leaders are expected to keep raising the issue both inside the House and through public demonstrations.
