Russia Launches Missile and Drone Assault on Kyiv Causing Civilian Injuries and Damage
11 injured as residential areas hit in pre-dawn barrage.
Russian forces conducted a large-scale missile and drone assault on Kyiv in the early hours of Friday, targeting residential districts across the Ukrainian capital and causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure. The attack, which began shortly after 3 a.m., involved multiple waves of drones and missiles, triggering widespread explosions and fires as debris struck high-rise buildings and other structures throughout the city.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that 11 civilians were injured, four of whom required hospitalisation, including a pregnant woman and one individual in critical condition. The strikes damaged numerous apartment buildings, a school, medical facilities, and administrative offices, while also disrupting the city’s heating network in at least one district, raising concerns over potential interruptions to electricity and water supplies during the onset of winter.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, stated that nearly every district sustained damage to multi-storey residential buildings, underscoring the deliberate targeting of civilian areas. In the Dniprovskyi district, three high-rise structures were hit, prompting the evacuation of residents from one burning tower. Similar destruction was reported in the Desnyanskyi and historic Podil districts, where fires engulfed several buildings and emergency services operated under challenging conditions.

Outside the capital, authorities in Kyiv region reported additional strikes that injured one person and ignited fires in multiple localities.
Ukraine’s air force confirmed that Russian forces simultaneously targeted several regions with drones and guided munitions, marking the incident as one of the most intense coordinated attacks on the capital in recent months and highlighting a continued escalation of hostilities.
