Rohit Pawar Claims BJP Using Tatkare to Split Ajit Pawar’s NCP
Rohit Pawar Alleges BJP Plot to Split Ajit Pawar’s NCP
NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar, MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed, alleged on Tuesday that the BJP is orchestrating a split in the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) by leveraging its state president, Sunil Tatkare. Speaking to reporters, Pawar claimed the NCP has two factions: one led by Tatkare, backed by party functionaries, and another by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, supported by MLAs. “BJP leaders are trying to split Ajit Pawar’s party through Sunil Tatkare,” he stated, predicting Tatkare might contest on a BJP ticket in 2029.
Tatkare, a two-time Raigad MP and close Ajit ally, has been central to NCP’s Mahayuti coalition with BJP and Shiv Sena since the 2023 split from Sharad Pawar’s faction. Rohit’s claims echo earlier tensions, with Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut alleging in December 2024 that the BJP tasked Ajit with poaching NCP (SP) MPs. Tatkare dismissed reunion talks with Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP), insisting no rift exists.
Posts on X, like @LoksattaLive, amplified Rohit’s allegations, while @NewsArenaIndia quoted Tatkare on potential NCP unification talks with BJP. The accusations, amid Maharashtra’s 2024 assembly election fallout where NCP won 41 seats, signal ongoing Mahayuti friction, with BJP’s 132 seats dwarfing allies.
Rohit’s remarks, backed by NCP (SP)’s eight Lok Sabha seats, aim to destabilize Ajit’s faction ahead of 2027 polls.
