Rijiju Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Naravane Remarks, Calls It “Frivolous Rhetoric”

Kiren Rijiju calls Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on China “frivolous rhetoric” amid Naravane book row.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday strongly criticised Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of indulging in “frivolous rhetoric” to remain in the public eye. Speaking to reporters during a day-long visit to Patna, Rijiju dismissed Gandhi’s recent remarks referencing skirmishes with Chinese forces, as cited from a book by former Army Chief MM Naravane.

Rijiju stated that Gandhi’s attempt to put the government on the mat would ultimately have no impact. “Rahul Gandhi is merely trying to remain in the headlines by indulging in frivolous rhetoric. However, all this would prove to be of no consequence,” the Minister said, emphasising the futility of the Congress leader’s statements.

Highlighting the nation’s achievements, Rijiju claimed that India has made “tremendous progress” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asserted that the government’s efforts in defence, infrastructure, and international diplomacy have strengthened the country, making any political criticism largely irrelevant.

The Minister also reiterated his party’s view that the public would “never again repose their trust” in the Congress, which, according to him, weakened the nation during its 60 years in power. He stressed that the current government’s track record reflects stability, growth, and strong governance.

Rijiju’s comments come amid ongoing political debates over the government’s handling of border tensions with China. By citing Naravane’s observations, Gandhi had attempted to raise questions about the government’s strategic approach, which Rijiju dismissed as an opportunistic move for media attention.

The Union Minister concluded by urging citizens to focus on India’s achievements rather than engage in partisan squabbles, asserting that national interest should remain above political theatrics, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s security and progress.
