Revanth Reddy Says BRS Has Past But No Future, Predicts Political Decline
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy attacks BRS, saying the party has no future and will not survive politically.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claiming that the party “has a past but no future” and predicting that it will not survive in the state’s political landscape. His remarks came during an informal interaction with the media in the Telangana Assembly premises on the occasion of the party completing 26 years.
Revanth Reddy compared the BRS, led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to what he described as a “dead body,” saying that cosmetic changes could not revive a politically declining organisation. He asserted that despite attempts to reposition itself, the party was no longer viable in its current form and would continue to lose relevance over time.
Responding to questions about recent political developments, including the launch of a new political outfit by K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha, the Chief Minister dismissed concerns about its impact. He remarked that attention should instead be on whether the existing party itself would endure, and questioned the relevance of focusing on newly emerging formations at this stage.

Revanth Reddy also made broader observations about Telangana’s political future, suggesting that the state would eventually see two major political groupings. According to him, one alliance would comprise the Congress, Communist parties, and Telangana Jana Samithi leader Kodandaram, while the other would include the BRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He said such alignments would shape future electoral competition in the state.
The Chief Minister further commented on internal dynamics within the BRS leadership, claiming that members of KCR’s family were closely aligned and presenting a unified front for political purposes. He alleged that recent statements and developments within the party were part of a coordinated political narrative.
Revanth Reddy also referred to ongoing legal and administrative developments linked to the Kaleshwaram project and the PC Ghose Commission report. He noted that while the Telangana High Court had not objected to the findings of the report, it had stated that action should not be taken based solely on it. He added that further steps would be taken after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) completes its inquiry.
The Chief Minister also clarified that he did not wish ill for KCR, stating that the former Chief Minister’s good health was important. However, he maintained that political criticism during the Telangana movement and in governance had to be viewed in context, adding that public opinion would ultimately judge past and present leadership.
