Revanth Reddy Accuses BRS Leaders Of Performing Occult Rituals To Harm Congress Government

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday accused leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of allegedly performing occult rituals against the Congress government, escalating the political confrontation between the two parties. Reddy claimed that BRS leaders had secretly visited temples in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and questioned why details of those visits had not been made public. Addressing a public meeting in Sangareddy town after launching the distribution of smart Public Distribution System (PDS) ration cards, Reddy alleged that a former minister had travelled to temples in the two neighbouring states to perform rituals aimed at undermining the Congress government.

Although he did not name BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao, his remarks were widely understood as being directed at the senior BRS leader. Reddy questioned why the alleged temple visits had been kept private. He asked why details of visits to temples in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka had not been shared on social media or disclosed publicly. The chief minister challenged the former minister to identify the temples he had visited and explain what activities had taken place there. The Telangana chief minister further alleged that the rituals were intended to bring hardship to the state and damage the Congress government's standing. According to Reddy, prayers were made for drought, distress among farmers and the downfall of the Congress government.

He described the alleged actions as an extreme attempt by political opponents to regain power and accused BRS leaders of resorting to such practices in their pursuit of political advantage. Reddy's allegations were made in the middle of an ongoing political contest between the Congress government and the BRS, which was in power in Telangana before the Congress came to office.
