Reports Claim 7 MPs, MLAs In Talks To Leave Uddhav Thackeray’s Camp

Reports claim Sena UBT MPs and MLAs may switch to Shinde faction.

Speculation over a possible split within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) has intensified once again, with reports suggesting that several MPs and MLAs may be in advanced talks to switch allegiance to the Eknath Shinde-led camp. The developments come at a politically sensitive time ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, adding to growing turbulence within opposition ranks.

According to claims made by Shiv Sena leader and MLC Krupal Tumane, discussions under what has been described as “Operation Tiger” have reached an advanced stage. He stated that around seven MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) are reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to join the Shinde faction. Tumane also claimed that nearly 16 MLAs from the UBT camp are in contact with the ruling side.

Tumane further told news agencies that these discussions have been ongoing for several weeks and are now close to completion, suggesting that any formal shift could take place before the Monsoon Session begins. Drawing an analogy, he compared the process to a medical operation nearing its final stage, indicating that only procedural formalities remain before any potential political realignment is announced.

The claims have added fresh momentum to speculation about internal instability within the Shiv Sena (UBT), led by Uddhav Thackeray. If the reported defections materialise, they could significantly impact the party’s strength in the Lok Sabha and alter the balance of power within Maharashtra’s political landscape as well as in Parliament.

However, senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has strongly rejected the allegations, dismissing the reports as politically motivated speculation. Following a recent meeting chaired by Thackeray, Raut asserted that all nine MPs of the faction remain united and loyal to the party, while also hinting at a counter-strategy dubbed “Operation Wolf.”

As competing claims continue to emerge from both sides, the situation underscores ongoing uncertainty within Maharashtra politics. While the Shinde faction projects confidence about possible gains, the UBT camp maintains that there is no internal breakaway, setting the stage for further political confrontation in the days leading up to the Monsoon Session.
