Rekha Gupta Confident of NDA Sweep in Bihar Citing Development Achievements

Delhi CM predicts landslide victory for NDA.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, visiting Bihar confidently predicted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure an "overwhelming majority" in the upcoming state assembly elections, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking in Patna while attending the nomination filings of several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates, Gupta highlighted the state's developmental strides under NDA governance as a key factor driving voter support.

"Bihar is witnessing a surge in development and prosperity under the NDA," Gupta told reporters. "The people see this progress and will ensure the alliance forms the government again with a massive mandate." Her remarks underscore the NDA's campaign narrative, emphasizing infrastructure growth and economic upliftment since the coalition's tenure began.

The BJP, a major NDA constituent, released its first list of 71 candidates on October 14, 2025, introducing notable changes. In a surprising move, the party denied a ticket to Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, a seven-term MLA and former state BJP president, replacing him in Patna Sahib with Sanjay Kumar Gupta, a lesser-known state secretary.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, also a former state BJP president, was fielded from Tarapur, marking his return to direct assembly elections since his 2010 win from Parbatta on an RJD ticket. Similarly, Health and Law Minister Mangal Pandey, another ex-state BJP president and current legislative council member, was named the candidate from Siwan.

The candidate reshuffle reflects the BJP’s strategy to blend experience with fresh faces ahead of the polls. Election Commission data indicates Bihar’s assembly elections, scheduled for November 2025, will cover 243 constituencies, with over 7 crore registered voters. Gupta’s visit and bold predictions signal the NDA’s aggressive push to consolidate its voter base, leveraging Modi’s national appeal and Kumar’s regional influence. Further nomination filings are expected this week, with campaigning intensifying across the state.
