Rajnath Singh Highlights India’s Strengthened Global Position Under PM Modi
Rajnath Singh credits PM Modi for India’s increased global influence.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that India’s global standing has strengthened significantly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that the country’s voice is now taken seriously on international platforms. He made the remarks while addressing the valedictory session of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) held in Vadodara. Singh said India’s growing stature reflects wider progress in its economic, technological, and strategic capabilities.
Singh stated that there was a time when India’s views at global forums did not receive adequate attention, but that situation has now changed. He said that today, whenever India speaks on international issues, the world listens carefully and responds with seriousness. According to him, this transformation represents the emergence of a more confident and influential India on the global stage.
The Defence Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this shift in India’s international position. He said Modi, born and raised in Gujarat, has consistently represented India’s interests on the world stage. Singh also highlighted Gujarat’s historical and cultural significance, noting that the state has shaped national leadership and values through figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Referring to the origins of the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, Singh said it began in 2003 under Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister and has since evolved into a globally recognised platform. He said what started as a state-level investment summit has grown into a broader movement aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, reflecting India’s long-term development goals.
Singh further said Gujarat has emerged as a key driver of India’s economic growth due to its industry-friendly policies, strong infrastructure, and entrepreneurial culture. He noted that the conference exhibition showcased diverse sectors including MSMEs, startups, mobility, exports, handicrafts, and tribal products, all contributing to national development through innovation and enterprise.
Earlier in the day, Singh also attended a seminar on defence and aerospace industries, where he interacted with representatives from major companies, MSMEs, startups, and academic institutions. He emphasized the importance of fostering private participation and innovation in defence manufacturing, stating that India is now in a position to not only meet its own needs but also serve global markets with domestically developed products.
