Rajeev Chandrasekhar Files Nomination for Kerala BJP President Post
Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar officially filed his nomination for the position of Kerala BJP state president on Sunday. The submission took place in Thiruvananthapuram, marking a significant step in his political journey following his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti.
Chandrasekhar, a seasoned politician and technocrat, submitted his nomination papers in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including Namboothiri, the Returning Officer for the party’s internal elections, as well as state figures like K. Surendran, V. Muraleedharan, and Suresh Gopi.
His candidacy comes after his loss in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram to Congress’ Shashi Tharoor, a defeat that ended his ministerial role in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
Known for his entrepreneurial background, including founding BPL Mobile and Jupiter Capital, Chandrasekhar has been a prominent voice in the BJP, previously serving as a national spokesperson and representing Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2024. His bid for the Kerala BJP presidency signals the party’s intent to bolster its presence in the state, where it has historically struggled to gain a strong foothold.
The nomination filing, reported widely on platforms like X, reflects growing anticipation within party circles. The election outcome will shape the BJP’s strategy in Kerala ahead of future polls.
