Rahul Gandhi’s Surprise Handshake with BJP MP Breaks the Internet!

Rahul Gandhi’s handshake with BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy goes viral amid Parliament tensions.

In a striking display of bipartisanship, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi congratulated BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy outside Parliament on Wednesday for securing the secretary (administration) post at the Constitution Club of India. The warm handshake, which Gandhi described as “an uncommon handshake between BJP,” followed Rudy’s decisive victory in the club’s election last week, where the five-time MP from Bihar defeated former Union minister Sanjeev Balyan with 391 votes to 291. The moment, captured on video, has garnered attention amid a contentious parliamentary session marked by heated debates over new legislation.

Rudy, a seasoned parliamentarian who has led the Constitution Club for over two decades, emerged victorious in a poll that saw 707 of the club’s 1,200 members cast their votes, including high-profile figures like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The election underscored Rudy’s enduring influence within the prestigious club, a key networking hub for India’s political elite. Gandhi’s gesture, made while speaking to reporters, highlighted a rare instance of cross-party camaraderie in an otherwise polarized political climate.

The handshake coincided with a tumultuous day in Parliament, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabled three significant bills: the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, and the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill. These propose a legal framework to remove sitting ministers, chief ministers, or the prime minister from office if detained for 30 days on charges carrying a minimum five-year sentence. Met with strong opposition from figures like AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, the bills triggered sloganeering and disruptions, leading to the Lok Sabha’s adjournment until 3 pm.

Against this backdrop, Gandhi’s gesture toward Rudy stands out as a moment of unity in a divided House.
