Rahul Gandhi Rejects ‘King’ Label, Slams Monarchical Concept

Rahul Gandhi denounces ‘raja’ title at conclave!

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi firmly rejected the notion of being a “king” and criticized the very concept of monarchy during his address at the “Constitutional Challenges: Perspectives and Pathways” conclave at Vigyan Bhawan on Saturday. Responding to enthusiastic chants from the audience of “Is desh ka raja kaisa ho, Rahul Gandhi jaisa ho,” Gandhi retorted, “No boss, main raja nahin hun. Raja banana bhi nahin chahta hun. Main raja ke against hun, concept ke bhi against hun” (I’m not a king, nor do I want to be one. I’m against the idea and the concept itself).

Gandhi’s remarks align with his ongoing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he has previously accused of acting like a “raja” by ignoring public voices. The day-long conclave, attended by legal experts, opposition leaders, and civil society members, focused on safeguarding India’s constitutional values amid concerns over centralized governance. Gandhi emphasized democratic accountability, reiterating his stance against autocratic tendencies.

The event, organized by the Congress, also featured discussions on federalism and judicial independence, drawing sharp contrasts with the ruling BJP’s policies.
